FLOATING FOOTPRINTS

floating footprints white.png

We propose a model of 'floating footprints', where island nations most at risk from flooding can adapt their homes without the need to relocate. Constructed using a 'light touch' approach, these innovative homes float above the flood, protecting families and property.

BUOYANT FOUNDATION

With the addition of a floating base, the homes and landmarks of each community can be given a renewed longevity. Future-proofing the built environment for generations to come.

COMMUNITY INFRASTRUCTURE

As island communities fight to remain, we need to evolve and adapt. Flooding is a global problem. If we start to create amphibious and floating infrastructure this is an opportunity to reinvent how we live. Road, pavement and jetty can become new marine habitat, aquaculture and sea defence.

Tarawa

Tarawa is one of the many atolls of Kiribati at risk of dissapearing due to sea level rise.
